Record broken but at what price: CM Punk’s emergency knee surgery

On Tuesday morning current WWE champion CM Punk tied John Cena’s 380 day title reign as the longest championship reign of the past 25 years. He was then rushed into emergency knee surgery.

CM Punk had a surgery on his left knee in order to remove a piece of torn meniscus. The surgery itself was performed by Dr. James Andrews who has done many other wrestler’s surgery such as Randy Orton and Batista.

This injury could mean a lot for CM Punk. Even though it looks like CM Punk will be back in a matter of weeks from this surgery the WWE could still decide to take the title off him because he is hurt.

CM Punk was also removed from the main event of TLC which means the next time Punk will have to defend the title is at the Royal Rumble against The Rock. Will the WWE pull the trigger on Punk’s historic title reign when the second city savior goes one on one with the Great One?
